Pours a rich butter caramel color with a small head. Smell is toasty, tart, almost nutty malt. Taste is nice and refreshing but with crisp, tart maltiness. Biscuity and bready and very nice and flavorful. Good body and solid carbonation. Easily my favorite of this style, and one I would enjoy trying again.

Jul 13, 2008 Bottle 08’. Amber pour with nice bone white head. Nice hop spice and baked goods flavor. Sweet and well balanced. Perfect carb and medium body. I shared this with some friends who are not beer fans and they enjoyed it. Really well done brew.

Apr 8, 2008 courtesy of oteyj. nice bubbly head, great lacing. beer is a hazy amber coloration. aroma of orange peel, spice, and yeast. flavor is complex- starts very smooth, then an intense flavor of sweet molasses and a hoppy finish. mouthfeel is nice, my first heller bock and I liked it a lot, really nice beer.

May 14, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy, medium orange color with a thick beige head. Tons of lacing. Earthy aroma with caramel malt and yeast notes. Flavor has a nice mixture of spices to go with the malt and yeast tastes. Pleasant and long lasting aftertaste. Slight hop bitterness in the finish.

Apr 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light amber with small white head. Aroma and flavor strongly of floral and citrus hops, also some spices and molasses. This reminded me of an american pale ale, actually. I thought the hops and malt flavors blended really well together. An excellent beer!

Apr 20, 2008 Pours a nice medium gold with a tall foamy white head. Aroma is of honey and yeast with a few floral hops. Initial taste is a very smooth light honey and spicey, maybe peppery, flavor.The finish is reminiscent of a Belgian yeast mixed with some of those same floral hops. Overall it’s a very good and smooth beer.

Apr 20, 2008 2007 Bottle. Pours clear orange with a thick creamy white head. Possibly the most powerful honey aroma I have ever smelled. Flavor of honey, molasses, and caramel. Hides its alcohol well. Nice.

Oct 26, 2009 A clear hazelnut color with a small beige head that becomes blotchy. Fruity and grainy aroma. Interesting flavors. Wood flavor, banana, medicinal, alcohol and a nice mix of hops (especially for the style). This is a sweet beer. A malty finish. This beer is all over the place which, to me, is always a fun drinking experience. Long lasting aftertaste is spicy hops.
