Commercial Description:
Maibocks are a traditional Teutonic seasonal specialty. We brew ours to be hugely malty and subtly finished with a variety of continental hops, with an eye-pleasing russet brown color.

Nice palate, hardly carbonated at all, slightly creamy. Very malty with a lot of flavour. Well balanced despite no obvious hops.

Dark golden color, plenty carbonated, thick white head. Mild sugar candy and dough aroma. Somewhat sweet and sticky palate, a bit of alcohol flavor and bite at the back of the throat. A negative to me. Not bad but lacks the complexity of some of the German offerings.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a small, foamy off white head. The aroma is sweet with caramel malts up front followed by a touch of spices and floral hops. The flavor follows the sweet theme with toasted caramel up front and joined by coriander, ginger, and other spices. Medium to full bodied, smooth with subtle carbonation. Not bad, but maybe a touch too sweet.

Pours a golden color with a thin white head. The aroma is faint, but it is yeasty and a little fruity. Taste is sweet maltiness, some yeast, and some dark fruit. Mild taste overall.

Bottle. Sweet malty aroma. Beautiful golden body, nice sized white head. Taste is surprisingly mild. Lightly toasty, some caramel and fruit, not overly sweet. Sweetness, although fortunately never cloying, develops a little more in the finish, along with a touch of bitterness. I was looking forward with great anticipation to this Smuttynose offering, but honestly it left me just a tad disappointed.

Pours clear gold with a foamy white head that fades. Aroma is honey and alcohol with cherries. Honey and berries are the most dominant tastes with some bitter citrus. Finishes with slight roast malt and sticky.

Bottle 650 ml.
Appearance: clear amber lager with large, frisky, creamy-white top.3+
Aroma: sweet, fruity, berry like with slight peppery hop side.
Flavour/Palate: full bodied, slightly oily in texture. You will be welcomed by alcohol warmth right from first sip. Thick, malty body supports well its formula. Malt it self is candy sweet but with out crossing cloying point. Good bock.

Draft. Transparent copper color with frothy off-white head. Mild aroma, slightly sweet and malty aroma. Start is slightly sweet, malty, then alcohol burn. Perhaps some citrus to finish, A good maibock, but ethanol is too present. On draft at Clarks Ale House in Syracuse, NY.
