Transluscent brown to copper in color and mine poured with fair sized white head. Aroma is very noble hoppy, peppery, grassy with a touch of malt. The flavor is carmel and hops. It is slightly bitter. Dry finish, good beer. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 14, 2004 Clear, rich amber color, big head of active foam atop, quick to crumble.
Nose is soft, dry, vegetal/herbal, leaning into a certain sweetness. Very stately and assure.
Taste is rich and full, fresh with a bright fruity quality, berries and apples, and such, but that loses hold, as the flavor feels more coppery and buttery at swallow’s end. Maltiness reigns supreme here, and hops entertain a mere tingle at the fore. Body is medium, at best, and the finish is long, flavorful, and ultimately dry.
An interesting maibock, one that I think I like...this is sophisticated, truly mature, not oversome in flavorful and sweet, buttery malt, but, rather, like Baby Bear’s hand-me-downs, ju-ust right.
Good balance, good taste, just plain ol’ good...and that’s good!
Very happy to have a full 22 ounces all to myself, (this should cover me for the night)... DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

Tastes malty, with some hops and fruit. Medium palate, with a slightly dry, fruity finish. Good complexity and balance. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 12, 2007 Poured a voluptuously effervescent golden with a fizzy off-white head which dissipated completely. Aroma of some light toffee, a bit of herbal grass, some light spiciness, nice but not too complex or assertive. Flavor however is quite good... an apple and caramel sweetness comes up first, followed quickly by a strong herbal grassy hoppiness, a bit of dry toffee, and a surprisingly refreshing dry finish. Warming. Clearly an American interpretation with the noticeable hops and alcohol, but a welcome one. Very nicely balanced and refreshing. Gmoney (257), ManchVegas, New Hampshire, USA
