The Smutty Octoberfest had a huge head that dissipated quickly over an orangy color. Pretty ok hoppy taste. Nothing hugely amazing about this one. I'd rather have the Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale over this one any day.

I was hopeful with this one. I was in the mood for the holidays and thought this would be a nice start. I was wrong. It started great, red/amber in color, a good head that left behind a nice lacing. Fruity/spicey aroma with mild hops and a hint of malt but that's where the good ends. There wasn't much flavor at all and it had a bitter/unpleasant aftertaste. This one didn't live up to the hype.

Ruby tinted amber colour with a perfectly dense light tan head. Aroma of pumpkin, malt, caramel and a light nutmeg. Medium-bodied; Sweet flavour mixed with plentiful malt and some spices. Aftertaste full of sweetness-caramel, caster sugar and a bit of natural sugars from raisins, etc. Overall, a pretty good beer and a pleasant twist on the style. I bought this 65 cL bottle from Norm's in Vienna, Virginia and sampled it on 19-November-2003.

Clear amber body with medium beige head. Aroma is floral and caramel. Taste is sweet caramel, with light floral bitterness in support. Medium body. Overall, I find it too sweet.

Bottle. Poured copper-brown color with a nice off-white head. Aroma is malty, butterscotch and very light hops. Flavor is sweet malts, sweet malts and a few more sweet malts with a little hoppiness in the finish. Medium body and creamy carbonation. Nice east coast treat.

2003 Big Bottle: The beer pours a slightly orangish-amber color. It is crystal clear. There is a decent off-white head, but it dissapates very quickly. There is very little lacing. The taste is malty sweet with a fairly decent hop bite also. Medium bodied. Hint of caramel to the nose. A very good efort!

Medium-bodied amber color. Sweet, dessert-like flavor. Caramel and coconut. OK, but not great.
