Commercial Description:
Old Brown Dog has been cited as a classic example of the "American Brown Ale" style of beer. Compared to a typical English Brown Ale, Old Brown Dog is fuller-bodied and more strongly hopped.

Pours medium brown. Aroma is toast and nut. Flavor is very earthy with notes of almond. All over it is fairly well roasted and malty. Finish is evenly bitter to give the beer a bit of backbone.

Bottle. Pours an orangish brown with a thin head of tan fizz/suds that dies back just a bit after pouring. Aromas are dominated by earth and nuts with a little bit of dark sugars. Flavor is very nice for a brown... lots of sweet and earthy tones mix with a little bit of fruit. Don’t know what is going on, but I keep thinking of cherries as I’m sipping. Mostly, though, there is a lot of nuts and brown sugar that keep this earthy and sweet, even into the aftertaste. Nice stuff.

This poured a nutty brown color with an off white head. Aroma was roasted malts, nutty and some brown sugar. Flavor was nice lightly roasted malts, some nutty characters and maple as well.

bottle: pint glass: Pours a deep brown leaving 2 fingers off white head. The nose was outright weird... a but metallic, perhaps smelling like wet dog?! The taste upfront was more complex than expected... coffee, roasted malts, caramel. The beer should be more creamy but the carbonation is way to high... really killed it for me.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, rather sugary. Flavor is very similar, lots of sweet malt and nothing much else. That is all. 6/4/6/3/12 [3.1/5]

A slightly floral aroma with notes of hops. The body has a nice blend of hops and malt character which is rather light. A very drinkable beer with a distinct character.
