BigBeer45 (476), Troy, Michigan, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle, has a ruby with maple syrup brown cues at the edges type of pour, gave a foamy off-white to tan head that stays around to keep a cover, aromas of toasted malt and a sweet nuttiness, faint caramel and chocolate fragrances, flavor of toasted malt and malt sweetness, some chocolate flavor to, has a medium hop bitterness at the finish, some dryness at the finish, medium mouth feel maybe a bit more and creamy on the palate, a nice brown ale, has a malt sweetness that I enjoy, very nice beer. Tessic (379), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Sep 5, 2008 This ale poured a deep red colour with a nice creamy tan head. To the nose there are scents of hopps, pine, juniper berries, ripe fruit and a little grass. First taste was smooth and a little acidic from the hopp flavour but still very good. Flavours of hopps, smoke and a light caramel flavour. Palate is bitter and has a strong bitter flavour. heynik1885 (12), tonawanda, New York, USA Aug 22, 2008 not a bad brown ale, small head, strong but not to strong, some carmel notes pretty good urnamesucks (92), New York City, New York, USA Aug 20, 2008 Rich and brown in color. I tasted the caramel flavor with hints of other subtle flavors. ElGaucho56 (379), USA Aug 16, 2008 Pours more of a lighter beige than a true brown ale, with a small white cap. Not too much in the nose, some typical earthy british aroma hops, some biscuity malt. More of the same on the palate with a slightly thin body, finishing vaguely chocolatey. Not my cup of tea.
