Commercial Description:
Old Brown Dog has been cited as a classic example of the "American Brown Ale" style of beer. Compared to a typical English Brown Ale, Old Brown Dog is fuller-bodied and more strongly hopped.

Thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours clear brown with an off-white head. Nose is sweet malt, some nuts, and a slight sweetness. Flavor is same with brown sugar, some nuts, chocolate, and a tang of hops. Pretty darn good, moderately enjoyable.

12oz bottle from Total Wine (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark amber to cola brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of bakers chocolate, raisins, dark fruit, brown sugar, grass and bread. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of chocolate, raisins, brown sugar, some hints of honey and caramel.

Without a doubt my favorite brown ale to date. Caramel, nut, chocolate, delicious.

Pours nice clear amber with tan head. It has a pleasing full roasty aroma with layers of malty sweetness and nuttiness. The taste is rich with roasty malts and nuttiness that runs front to back. This is nice stuff full of robust flavors that are plenty smooth.

Looks great with a large, lasting head atop a clear amber/brown body and sticky lacing. Warming aroma of nuts, chocolate and coffee. Malty body, fairly creamy with a rolling finish. Nice and soft feel to it. Sweet cocoa along with toast and caramel. I taste a heavy use of traditional English malts. An all around solid brown, very enjoyable.

Bottle. (previous tasting from memory). This was included in a mix pack. Do not remember too much so may need to retaste this one some day. Did remember it being good but not great.

This one comes out of the tap a cloudy, almost opaque, mahogany brown. Malty aroma has hints of spices and molasses. Rich flavor is mainly malty and has tones of cloves and molasses, as well as a hint of hops and a touch of sweetness. Silky-smooth texture leaves a tasty and pleasant finish.
