Commercial Description:
Old Brown Dog has been cited as a classic example of the "American Brown Ale" style of beer. Compared to a typical English Brown Ale, Old Brown Dog is fuller-bodied and more strongly hopped.

Pours a clear brown with an off white head. Aroma is medium sweet caramel, nuts and toffee. Flavor is much of the same but a bit fruity as well. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel. Finishes medium and a bit astringent.

Pours a see through brown with a decent head that disapates quickly. It tasted of caramel and a slight bit like dough. It was malty. It seemed a bit thin though and besides the slight dryness you got on your palate it left little else behind. I liked it and think it is a great summer brown to drink, I didn’t love it.

Thanks AgentSteve. Dark brown, simple, malty, caramel, little nutty, slight dark fruits, dry hop finish.

Pours ruddy brown with a thin cream colored head. Nose is sweet and malty. The flavor is the same with a dry hop finish. Kind of boring.

The pour was a very dark brown but with a faint copper at the bottom of the glass. Lacy off white head. Nose is malty but faint. A second smell picked up some sweetness, but that was after the first taste. The malty character finishes as a sweet caramel but the overall experience feels stunted. Well balanced American brown.

(Bottle). Sweet malty aroma. Lovely hazy dark brown color. Taste is full of malts and caramels, and some hops are evident. Pleasing finish. Excellent brown ale. (And underrated on the site.)

kinda a mahogany color, little head. Nose is nutty and sweet malts flavor is similar with some hops on the finish, not bad ...
