The pour was a very dark brown but with a faint copper at the bottom of the glass. Lacy off white head.
Nose is malty but faint. A second smell picked up some sweetness, but that was after the first taste.
The malty character finishes as a sweet caramel but the overall experience feels stunted.
Well balanced American brown. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA

Taste is full of malts and caramels, and some hops are evident. Pleasing finish. Excellent brown ale. (And underrated on the site.) tomthompson89 (1489), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Decent brew. Pours hazy brown with little to no head that left quickly. Sweet, malty aroma, smells of caramel and fruit. Very smooth taste with light carbonation. Easy drinker, would make nice session beer. jerico (2), , USA does not count | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 15, 2008 I poured this from a growler - it is a nice dark brown, but leaves almost no head (and what it does leave disappears quickly). It isn’t overpoweringly strong in taste or smell - the malts are apparent, with a touch of brown sugar and raisins. Pleasant, but not extraordinary. incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA

Poured dark brown, hence the beer being old brown doggy. Fairly heavy for a brown, rich and caramel-ey. Similar in taste and appearance to Bender. Good stuff, glad i took the gamble on this.
