| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 6, 2008 the body is dark amber brown. The aroma is full of malt and nuts with a little floral lavendar aroma. It has slot more hops than expected. There is the nutty flavor, but there is also a floral flavor and a bit of citrus hop flavor. tylerss20 (101), New Hampshire, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 5, 2008 I was blown away by this brew. Pours dark red-amber. Smell is sweet with malt and hay. Light one finger crown. Taste is malty, with caramel, a bit of smoke, and nuttiness. Hop is present, but plays second fiddle to robust sweet malt. Overall, very drinkable and medium sweetness, but surprisingly full bodied. My favorite smutty besides the baltic porter. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Semi clear red amber with a thin film of ivory beige head. Smell is malt and roasted nuts but is super subtle and almost sweet chocolate or fruit like. Flavor is sweet malt and some dough as well. Medium to high carbonation. A hint watery, thin and sweet but good overall. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours dark brown to maroon with a light tan head. Smell is nutty, toasty malt and cocoa. Taste is cocoa and malty, with a nutty flavor and a nice dose of balancing hops to keep it from being overly malty. Very drinkable. Flavorful, yet a tad thin bodywise, but still one of the better browns I’ve had. BeMerry (37), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

Taste initially medium sweet molasses and caramel. Then moves through citrus-sour to slightly bitter, ending in lingering sweet/sour caramel aftertaste. Mouthfeel: low carbonation is surprisingly lively palate cleansing. thornecb (1773), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
