Commercial Description:
Old Brown Dog has been cited as a classic example of the "American Brown Ale" style of beer. Compared to a typical English Brown Ale, Old Brown Dog is fuller-bodied and more strongly hopped.

Copying from my tasting notes. Bottle. Amber reddish pour with a nice carmel smell. Flavor is alittle off with some carmel.

Amber-red color, little head. Sugary nose with subtle caramel and malts. Flavor of burnt brown sugar, lighter=bodied than I was expecting. Not bad.

From a 12 fl. oz (US) bottle with an expiration date of June 08. Gorgeous ruby-brown pour with a short beig head. Hops definitely present in the aroma. Medium mouth feel and decent hoppy taste. A good brew and one that I have sampled many times.

Pours a thin lite tan head that doesn’t last. Wonderful aroma of caramel, malt, toffee & hops. Tastes like it smells - no ther way to sescribe it, wihc is a good thing.

Courtesy franksnbeans. Thanks dude. 12oz bottle. Chocolate brown pour with a small, quickly dissipating light tan head. No lacing. Average looking stuff. Nose of caramel, assorted nuts, chocolate, musty clothes and candied sugars. Flavor is sweeter, chocolate, nutty candy, toffee, cola sugar. The sweetness builds gradually but stays away from being overpowering. Medium bodied, easy to drink, low carbonation. Slightly sticky on the palate, but certainly never cloying. Finish is toffee, nutty bliss, super lengthy, the best part of the beer. The very end brings a rum soaked fruit bread blast out of left field, completely unexpected but it works for me.

1 of 4 brews I received in a sampler pac. Poured old brown dog color with medium head. Aroma is sweet and musty. Taste is bland and alcohol taste is evident. Should be higher abv. for as much alcohol I can taste. Aftertaste is grassy and maybe dirt??? I"m not saying this beer is horrible but the aftertaste is quite different. Old Brown Dod Ale is the perfect name, I give it points just for that.

12oz bottle. Toffee color, light bodied. Flavor is nice and sugary sweet, finish is hoppy which lingers. Smooth and while its good for Smuttynose.. its forgettable. Not the best brown ale out there.
