Nice balance of malt and hops in the aroma, with floral and almost piney notes in the hop character. Very smooth and nutty malt flavor with far less of a hop presence than the nose suggested. Very smooth, almost pillow like mouthfeel with malty finish. Theres just something about this one that makes it very drinkable and tastey. raiderfost (158), virginia beach, Virginia, USA

Not my favorite style but it does have a decent amount of hop flavor for a brown ale. doubleo (1121), San Diego, California, USA

Nice and malty with some sweetness and a fruity caramel type scent.Tastes sweet and malty with some berries, maybe raspberries in there. Tastes a little toasty as well. Palate is crisp with good carbonation. Not a bad choice, not my favorite but not bad. runak6 (3), USA does not count | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Strong hops, though not as I suspected. The mild aroma was brown malt. . The smooth flavor contained notes of hops and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. wmtribesman (21), Virginia, USA

Nose of lightly toasted malt, caramel and brown sugar, peanuts, and some faint spiciness. Flavor is malt-forward, though with enough hops to balance out the sweetness. Some spices come through in the finish-- pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, etc. Not really my thing, but well made, and an easy drinker, and I’ll always support the Smutty.
