Fine-laced small white head that clings to the glass. Nutty malt flavours. Powdery. Plum flavours. A bit restrained, but has a distinct cocoa powder flavour. Light-bodied. Smooth texture. Overall a nice brown ale. Mike4686 (120), Bayonne, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 21, 2007 deep brown woody color with a small head, smells of caramel malt, smooth finish, easy to drink, not that sweet but a great example of a brown ale. obguthr (1053), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 9, 2007 Hard to describe the aroma, but perhaps fudge. It pours clear thin brown with a thick head, good lacing. Uncomplex, but nice hop flavor. Metallic finish. lukin013 (211), Columbia, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2007 Brown body with small off-white head. Lightly nutty and earthy aroma. Flavor is similar with a little added chocolate sweetness. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Appearance: Medium brown in color with a fizzy, foamy off-white head.
Smell: Aroma of rich caramel malts, toasted nuts and, to some degree, a light herbal hop scent.
Taste: This is so precious. Upfront, sweet caramel maltiness coupled with a pleased nuttiness. A little buttery. Light hints of chocolate. Bitterness is very light, but the beer still finishes dry.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin. Lightly carbonated. Quite smooth, even creamy, and goes down with ease.
Drinkability: Fine, fine. Seriously, though. Very drinkable. One of the better brown ales I’ve tasted. bubbleflubber (898), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2007 I don’t normally highest praise to the visual aesthetics of a beer, but the pour on this was almost unrivaled! Beautiful cherry-walnut pour, almost reminiscent of a deep mahogany wood-grained piano. Sticky laced head with initial pock-markings of whipped eggwhites, resolving to thick spiderwebbing. The nose is a bit more reserved, some cold hops, bread, biscuit... all subtle. Flavor is subdued, but quite nice, integrating all of the bouquet contingencies, plus a bit of Crystal and Pale malts, and a cleanly biting hopped back palate. The mouthfeel is lightly round, and makes for an extremely quaffable experience. Prost! bryandhargrave (165), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Sweet, cinnamon and spicy. Good bit of spicy hops in the back. Peppery. More bitterness in the back than expected. Pretty simple but flavorful
