Aroma’s of moderate nutty malts and allspice. Alcohol scent is present. Initial taste is both acidic and bitter, with a light bitter finish. Light on the mouth with an oily finish. Tastes very nutty, like a Nutty Buddy candy bar. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Sour and blah, not a good beer from initial taste. maybe I have it too cold, but this beer taste bad. As it warms up, it gets a little better, but still not that good.Drinkable. ipe (5), USA does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2006 A lucky blind choice on a beer run while visiting Baltimore. Complex brown with a bit of a squawbread flavor -- meant in a good way! BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA

Very malty- caramel/toffee, subtle chocolate. Finishes on the bitter side, which I think is kind of nice. A nice, full bodied brown ale. fbennett (293), Lowell, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2006 This beer pours a medium brown and leaves a thin lace that quickly disappates. The smell of this beer is wonderful of cocoa powder, molasses, lemon, and some earth tones. As I taste this beer all the previous flavors come out I can really taste the chocolate on the fore front as well as some hop kick rounded out with some sweetness from the molasses then finished with a orange rind bitterness. This is a good beer from smuttynose one I will def come back to.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2006 Pretty good. Dark orange color, nice head, with plenty of lacing. Aroma of hops, slight roasted malt flavor. Caramel flavor, very good. Sregnar35 (730), Rotterdam, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2006 Pours a nice orange-brown with a white lacing head that holds. Aroma is very hoppy for a brown ale, with a hint of roasted malt. Flavor is also hoppy for a borwn ale, but it has enough of a caramel flavor to balance out, and make this a fine brew.
