| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2005 Pours to a a nice chestnut brown body with a beautiful lacing and white head. The aroma is nice. Nutty and malty. Walnuts and peanuts. Roasted malts but no chocolate or coffee. The flavor is walnuts and peanuts with some deep roasty malts without the chocolate or coffee. Nice. Oh so smooth for a brown (I don’t generally like the style). Good mouthfeel. It matches the beer well. I’d drink this again. HogTownHarry (4020), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 16, 2005 Bottle (12oz). Poured deep clear brownish red with an average foamy tan head. Aroma of very earthy roast malt, maybe burnt chestnut. Taste follows nose, slightly sour perhaps, thinnish body, slight attempt by vague hops to enter, ultimately only somewhat vegetal-sweet. Pretty lame, flat brown ale IMO. altkencru (143), USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 12, 2005 On tap, Cole’s, Buffalo. Dark brown pour, small tan head. Slight nuttiness in aroma. Medium mouthfeel. Nutty malty taste, but also stale hops present as well. Drinkable and a decent session, probably better when fresher, but nothing really stood out here. Will re-rate based on the bottle I picked up later. cvillebeer (134), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 7, 2005 A great traditional American brown ale. Easy drinking, not too bitter or hoppy really, but smooth, clean and flavorful. Brown ale is the Bud of people who like good beer. Maybe. Meaning an everyday beer that actually has taste and tastes good. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
