Commercial Description:
Old Brown Dog has been cited as a classic example of the "American Brown Ale" style of beer. Compared to a typical English Brown Ale, Old Brown Dog is fuller-bodied and more strongly hopped.

4/28/2008: Old Brown Dog has an amber brown color with a beige head that fades away at a decent pace. The malty aroma is sweet and earthly with some roasty caramel. The flavor is also slightly sweet and the roasty and caramel maltiness is quite evident. There is also some light nuttiness (pecan), toast, and a very faint earthy bitterness in the finish. This beer is medium-bodied quite smooth, easy to drink, and enjoyable. However, it isn’t very memorable as there is nothing really unique of special jumps out and sticks.

12 fluid ounce bottle (Best before Jan 08) from Treats in Wiscasset, Maine. Rating #481 for this beer.

Rich and brown in color. I tasted the caramel flavor with hints of other subtle flavors.

Pours more of a lighter beige than a true brown ale, with a small white cap. Not too much in the nose, some typical earthy british aroma hops, some biscuity malt. More of the same on the palate with a slightly thin body, finishing vaguely chocolatey. Not my cup of tea.

Nice brown ale here. Pours with a ginger aroma and a rich brown appearance. Tastes a bit ginger, roasted caramel, toffee.

Bottle poured to glass. Pours dark brown with a rich tan head. A sweet aroma woth smooth roasted malts and soft hop citrisyness. A calm roasted flavor with a pleasent soft bitter afterstaste. Creamy mouth feedl on the sidese of the tounge. A nice brown ale with fairly good lacing the lenght of the glass.

Pours a clear brown with an off white head. Aroma is medium sweet caramel, nuts and toffee. Flavor is much of the same but a bit fruity as well. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel. Finishes medium and a bit astringent.
