| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 24, 2009 On tap at Tully’s in Amherst, NY. Overall just kinda meh. Brown pour, minimal khaki-ish head. Nice lacing. The flavor was a bit of a letdown though - I was hoping for nuts, coffee, something, but instead didn’t get much. There was some hops, some sweetness, but nothing really exceptional to wow me. Slightly fizzier mouthfeel than I was hoping for as well. Maybe it’s because I was expecting an English brown. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Bottle: Poured a clear deep brown color ale with a medium foamy head with OK retention and no lacing. Aroma of deep caramel malt with light notes of molasses and some grain is quite enjoyable. Taste is a nice enough mix between some deep rich caramel malt with cereal and a light subtle touch of molasses. Hops are not very apparent which might be a good thing considering the nice malt base. Body is slightly above average with good carbonation. Well done – nice session beer. tommeagher (14), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 4, 2009 12 oz. Pours amber with an off-white head. Taste is brown sugar, caramel, maltiness. Very drinkable brown ale. tarheels86 (799), Washington DC, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 3, 2009 12 oz. Pours a clear deep red with a thin, tan head that has little retention and no lacing. Aroma is rich with toffee, caramel malt, hazelnuts, brown sugar, some smokiness. Taste is a bit sour, raw grain, oatmeal. Light to medium bodied. Not bad. georgekillian (221), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Love my brown ales and this is a great one, full bodied hops and flavor and has much more kick then a typical english brown ale, very well done!! Berley31 (198), New Brunswick, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 30, 2009 A: Poured with a large, off-white head that diminished to about 1/2-finger or so, and left some pretty good lacing on the glass. Body is light brown and quite hazy.
S: Aroma is of average malt, with a sweet breadiness and caramel flavor pushing through. Light hops are present as well.
T: Nice, sweet flavor without being sickening. The malt is there, but it’s not in your face or anything. Bit of hoppy bitterness to the finish. Overall, very smooth and nicely balanced.
M: Light-bodied and creamy, with soft carbonation.
D: Very safe and inoffensive, it would be easy to put back several of these beers some evening. Another winner from Smuttynose. Jow (25), New York, USA
