| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 25, 2006 Cloudy golden yellow pour that basically exploded out of the bottle with a thick foamy head (it was cold and seemed to be an overfilled bottle). Sweet wheat tones both in smell and taste, with little to no aftertaste of any kind. The creamyness extends to the palate, where the yeasty and almost citrus flavors roll around the tongue. Some minor lacing, most likely due to the slowly disappating head. (had mine in my standard pint glass, so others may have fared differently) Citrus of light orange and lemon is pervasive with a little light hops. Overall, not a spectacular lager, but drinkable over most domestics. 2beerguys (299), North Shore, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 21, 2006 The Portsmouth Lager pours a dark yellow color with virtually no head. Aroma is a light flowery hop. Initial taste is moderately bitter with a mild finish. Watery and light on the mouth with lively carbonation. Good lager. iratherbe (255), Marlton, New Jersey, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 7, 2006 Come to expect a little more from SN. A solid golden yellow body. Not much head from a bottle pour. Some sweetness and traces of fruity essence. I do have to say the the taste is balanced well due to a good combo of hop spicing. Not too shabby though no way an outstanding Vienna style. fbennett (293), Lowell, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 23, 2006 This beer pours a golden color and leaves a very thins white lace that disappears quickly. As I smell this beer I get some grassy wheat essence, along with some grape fruitness. This beer hits the palate with a bland tartness that really leaves you wanting for the malty sweetness to balance it out. The beer continues to give you that grapefruit, tarty smacking feeling but has nothing to balance it out with so the flavor is dominant.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2005 On tap at Portsmouth Brewery: Grassy hops blend well with the honeyed malt sweetness...Hay crispness thins out the smooth caramel, relinquishing a velvety mouthfeel...Well-balanced and quenching, an able session pint...
