Apr 14, 2008 Fourth of the Smuttynose winter sampler--and a while since I’ve had a true lager! Full white head that settles to uneven cirrus clouds on an effervescent orange body...has a strong look about it... light malts... the nostril presence is balanced and a bit fruity--pleasant...soft presence...not active but relaxed and drinkable in a positive way... a bit crunchy in the teeth, but only when chewed... malt is obvious... esther lays soft on the back of the mouth--flirts like a pilsner but holds with a lager backbone... hops are slight but noticeable...as lagers go, pleasant and easy--medium-bodied but probably a good beer for a six-pack evening...

Apr 7, 2008 Updated: Sep 26, 2008This was a pretty good lager. Pours a copper color with a thin white head that quickly fizzles down. Easy drinking with bitter hops and a bit grassy. It’s simple and I suppose could use a little more flavor, but all in all this is certainly drinkable.

Mar 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours nice dark golden color with small 1 finger head. Smell is light citrus hops, bread, grain and cereal. Taste is same with a decent hop bite. Nice mouthfeel but tad dry. Overall decent lager.

Mar 21, 2008 There is a cool photo of buoys on the label. Surprisingly nice lager aroma of hops and citrus. Foamy head with lacing. This is a mildly bitter lager, a little on the lite side. Not the best that Portsmouth has to offer, but a decent brew.

Feb 23, 2008 May 2007 - Beer pours a golden orange color, with very small head and no lacing. Aroma of lager malts. Flavor was full and rich with a decent bitter finish. Caramel, citrus sweet. Not bad.

Feb 19, 2008 Bottled. Poured - well, some color, it was in a super-dark room so I couldn’t really tell. Some hopiness and some other stuff, pretty decent.
