Aroma is rich and earthy with hints of malts, caramel, toffee, dates, and cherries. Some chocolate as well. Flavor is dark and earthy as well with some nutty hints mixed with chocolate, toffee, and dark fruits. Blends well and lingers on the tongue for quite a while. Very delicious. Pours a deep dark caramel color body with a thin, tight toupe colored head that dissipated rather quickly. Scents of booze overwhelm the senses but a nice variety of roasted nuts, toffee and a faint dash of vinegar complete the unique smell. Just as the booze overpowers the smell, it announces its presence with authority in the first sip. A lovely light malt profile breaks through next with some rich toffee and dark fruit. Dried cherries, dates and salted raisens come to mind. The body has a very silky feel on the tongue and despite the smell and flavor there is very little alcohol soak. There is something about this beer, like a sour funky backbone that is really beautifully hidden that makes it intriguing. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
