Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours a really dark mahogany brown color with a chestnut edge. A foamy, tan head settles quickly, leaving delicate splotches of lace behind. The nose is very roasty and smooth, with bold notes of dark milk chocolate, burnt caramel, deeply roasted barley, and espresso. Flavors follow suit, with rich, dry, dark cocoa and scorched caramel dominating. Bitter, earthy hops and black coffee linger well after the finish. Medium-full and dry roasted, the mouthfeel is substantial, but suffers from over-carbonation and a hint of chalkiness. If not for the palate flaws, this would be a killer porter. As it stands, it is still pretty damn good.

Bottle. Poured near black with a small brown head. Lots of nice lacing. The aroma was of roasted malt, chocolate, and a little smoke. Medium bodied, very smooth. Flavor is malty, lots of chocolate tones and light smoke. Good.

Near black, full-bodied with an enduring creamy head. Warm chocolate and coffee malts, licorice, and a smoky, hoppy presence in the finish. It’d be hard to find a better porter.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep dark brown (almost black) with a ruby-brown highlights and a thin dark tan head leaves narrow sheets of lace on the glass. The aroma is a complex blend of earthy hops, sugar malts, sweetened espresso, bitter cocoa, and hints of dark fruit. Flavor is earthy and roasty with strong coffee. It has a strong flavor with very little sweetness, light earthy hop flavor, and subtle alcohol. Mid-palate brings firm earthy bitterness with some very bitter cocoa and light malt sweetness. The finish is sharply dry and bitter with hops and coffee. The mouthfeel is crisply carbonated - almost too much - with a dryness that coats and makes the medium-full body feel lighter. Overall, a very strongly flavored porter. The roastiness is intense - but rich, not burnt or acrid. It is also surprisingly strong with earthy hops.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 12 oz bottle. Pours an asphalt black with a long lasting creamy mocha colored head that leaves good lacing. Rich aroma with plenty of dark bittersweet chocolate and some day old coffee. Flavor is full of fresh back dirt, dark chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel is nice and chalky. A most excellent porter.

Chocolate and coffee, with dark fruits, raisons, roasted malts, bitter chocolate, with traces of licorice. A very solid porter.
