12oz bottle. Black with a creamy tan head. Smooth roasted malt and cocoa aroma. Lots of roast and chocolate flavor, sweet but balanced by a nice hop bitterness and roast. Finishes clean, with a slight tinge of acidity. Medium, almost full bodied but quite drinkable. Nice stuff. This is definitely my kind of porter.

Pours a deep, slightly reddish opaque sable with a dark tan, almost brown, head. Rich aroma makes me think of fine roast coffee and has hints of molasses and unsweetened chocolate. Thick, heavy, mocha flavor has a smoky overtone and hints of molasses, honey and hops. Texture is thick and smooth, leaving behind a delightful tingle. Smuttynose, welcome to Atlanta!

(bottle) Pours black with a dark tan head and decent lacing. The aroma is initially really bizarre, there’s a good base of chocolate here, but there’s also this odd aroma of butter and tartness. Smells of must and wet dog as well. This label with the dog on it is appropriate. Taste is just heavily roasted french roast coffee, maybe some dark chocolate, but this is really walking that tightrope between being pleasant or astringent, and the circus theme on the label again describes this beer perfectly. The obnoxious snap pea flavor is also noted right before the finish, which pushes it over the edge. The finish is ok, with a bit of sweetness that rounds out to a light bitterness. I hope this is just a bad bottle, because this beer was pretty disappointing.

That was definitely a bad bottle, because this new bottle is so much better. Nice chocolate aroma, with some hints of licorice and roasted malt. Not must or wet dog this time. Taste is really good too, some rich chocolate, perfect roast, and hints of tart berry skin. Far more enjoyable, and definitely worthy of its score.

Decent off-white head. Nice black color. The head sticks around for a while, which is nice. Nice aromatic coffee/chocolate/ash aroma. This is very nice. A pungent aroma with this beer. Wow, this porter is actually very tasty. It has a nice strong flavor. Nice sweet flavor that just lingers on your tongue. This is actually a very good porter. Nice smooth palate. Overall, just a wonderful beer. The hops are great as well. They linger on your tongue and make the beer well rounded.

Bottle. Poured black with a tan head that left light lace. Aromas of milk chocolate and a hop backing. The flavor found a nice mix of chocolate, coffee, roast, and a hoppy background. Medium body. Decent!!

Bottle. Pours dark, almost black with a tan head and lots of lace. Aroma of roasted malt, lots of chocolate. Taste is also roasty chocolate, with some nice bitter notes in the finish. Mouth is nice and creamy, with light carbonation. Overall, a very nice porter.

351 mL bottle. Dark chestnut brown, almost opaque, with a ring of beige head. A dense, creamy (?!) aroma, with cocoa and earthy hops. Tonnes of cocoa in the flavour, with malty sweetness and bitter roast fighting it out for your remaining attention. Alcohol is well hidden. The body is quite full at first, but thins out at the end. The high carbonation may have something to do with this. Nice porter, though.
