Very smooth and (obviously) robust porter that pours a pretty dark brown with a mild tan head. Has a bit of a sweet tinge to the flavor but has a wonderful bitter snap at the back end. Highly enjoyable porter. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Opaque black with a ruby glow around the edges of the glass. Rich creamy mouthfeel with a mineral bitterness on the finish. Notes of milk chocolate, caramel, and hint coffee. Cheers! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2008 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small dark brown head. The aroma was dry and very roasty with a woody undertone. The flavor was dry, bitter and had a nice floral hop presence and moderate roasty malts. The finish was bitter, roasty and floral. Drier than I tend to prefer. Solid. elihapa (1052), Honolulu, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Bottle, from Bob’s Package Store. Pours a deep brown, with a wispy tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, smoke, and chocolate malt. Palate is medium in thickness, and dry, dry, dry, but not cloying. Instead, the whole package blends so nicely, as the flavor profile is all dark: chocolate, espresso, roasts, charcoal, and some prunes. Finish is slightly bitter, with the hops showing more prominently. Overall, this is a wonderful, robustly flavored porter. Pick this up if you see it! emacgee (1884), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Pours a dark black that allows a small amount of light. Head is two fingers thick creamy chestnut. Fades reasonably quick and leaves a nice lace. The nose is sweet, chocolate, some coffee, minute hints of grain. The flavor is bittersweet chocolate, some coffee roast, mild sweetness, mild hop bitterness comes through. Palate has some carbonation but relies mainly on the smooth coating character of the beer for presence. NICE. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Opaque black with a lasting half-inch foam that frosts the glass all the way down. Nice aroma of chocolate mocha. Big flavor of dark chocolate with light caramel on front, turns more towards a rich coffee with some nice piquant green herb and hickory char. Medium-heavy body is creamy smooth and roasty dry. douglas88 (1604), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Bottle thanks to Mark. Pours a black color with a medium light-brown head. The aroma is very nice; roasted malts, some coffee, light dark fruits and smoke. The flavor is excellent; lots of rich roasted malts and some chocolates. A strong hop mix balances the beer out somewhat. Lots of smoke and a nice dark fruit aspect too. Very nice.
