Jan 27, 2008 12 oz. bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm. Black with small tan head. Malty and roasty aroma with coffee, leather, chocolate and black currant. Sweetish rich malty and roasty flavor with coffee, bitter chocolate and dark fruits. Strongly roasty yet soft and balaced, excellent!

Jan 20, 2008 Foam Rangers January meeting. Dark black with brown head. Nose is roasted malts and fresh coffee. Dark chocolate and espresso taste with hops at the end. Another nice beer from Smuttynose.

Jan 20, 2008 12 oz bottle shared at Foam Rangers club meeting. Pours dark with a light brown head. Nice aroma of coffee and roasty malt. Taste is of coffee. Mouthfeel was medium-to-thin with a little carbonation and good bitter finish.

Jan 19, 2008 Bottle. Appearance: Opaque black, deep brown head. Aroma: Smoky roasted malt, coffee beans and dark chocolate. Palate: Thinner than I expected but still not bad. Flavor: Roasted smoky malt, espresso, dark bittersweet chocolate, all balanced by a nice little hoppy bite. Overall: Enjoyed this one a lot. By first beer from Smuttynose.

Jan 3, 2008 Wow at first sniff I knew this brew would be a definite winner. Pours jet black with copious frothy tan head. Toasty aromas of caramel and hops- not unusually complex but to the point and delicious. The flavour is where this porter really shines. Toasty malt and well integrated hops define this rich and complex brew. A little astringent on the hop aspect- but other than that this is a true porter- and a damn good on at that.

Dec 30, 2007 pours deep rich dark with tan head. Malted coffee aroma and a hint of chocolate. A gliding taste over the tongue of earthy malted hops and chocolate flavored coffee. A very enjoyable beer.

Dec 28, 2007 bottle. pours an average black with a nice small tan head that lasts throughout. very pleasant malty and coffee aromas. flavors of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts dominate this porter. smooth over the palate with a medium body lacking carbonation... the flavors flow right over the tongue and finish with a bitter malty aftertaste. wonderful porter - get it if you can.
