Flavor is coffee, sweet chocolate, a touch of raisen, caramel sweetness, and a roasty finish. Creamy mouthfeel with lots of carbonation but an easy finish. Just a good easy drinking porter. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2007 Bottle: Black as night pour with a thin mocha head. The nose is right on, with a great balance of citrusy hops and roasted malts. The body starts slightly acidic, with then opens up with lots of coffee and chocolate. Finishes with a mild bitterness that keeps this in check. Very good. kevd193213 (498), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA

Deep roasted malt aroma w/ hints of chocolate. Major dark roasted malt flavor. Coffee, chocolate & just enough hops to even the score. Feels very heavy in the mouth. Honestly, I was very surprised w/ just how "robust" this beer is. Very well done Smutty. kimcgolf (832), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 10, 2007 Pours to a very dark brown/almost black color with a thick dark brown head thatr lingered thru mid-glass and left very good lacing on the glass. Smooth malty aroma of chocolate, coffee and a hint of caramel. The taste emphasized the sweet chocolate as well, but with enough hops to provide enough offset to keep from being too sweet. Full bodied with a somewhat warming finish, makes this a darn good beer.
Nice, nostalgic label too. gpekar (227), Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 4, 2007 This was definetly a robust beer. It poured almost black with a thick creamy brown head that left some really nice lacing throughout the drinking. First thought was this looks like a really good stout. It was very appealing visually. There was a nice rich chocolate and espresso aroma with a malty fragrance. The flavor was a smokey bittersweet chocolate and espresso. The finish was slightly bitter, dry and metalic and the flavor lasted for a good long finiish sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2007 Bottle. Dark brown pour with a frothy beige head. Striped lacing. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and toffee, mostly creamy with a bit of roast. Flavor of dark chocolate malts with a nice charred edge. Richly flavored with an earthy underpinning. Some minerally notes as well. Full bodied and smooth. Really nice overall. Alldaydrinker (558), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 1, 2007 Pours an rich black colour with small tan head. Nose of roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits, and soy sauce. Initial taste is rich with a creamy deep roasted coffee. Dark fruits lingering. Finshing heavily roasted and chocolate. Bitter hops make their presence very well. Well balanced. Fair amount of carbonation but didnt draw anything away from this brew. Palate duration is excellent with Decent head retention and lacing of the glass. Medium body. Dry finish and goes down so quick that I went grab a sip and it was already gone. Very good porter.
