| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 23, 2007 Bottle with expiration date of October 2007. Pours a rich black with a brown head. Not much foam or lacing but still a nice color. Light chocolate and hops are evident in the scent. Solid mouth feel. There was what I like to describe as a "belch-factor." Most craft brews don’t make me burp but this one did. I usually knock it the flavor rating down a tenth of a point when that happens. Both otherwise a solid, likeable brew. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2007 Bottle purchased at D’s Six Pax. Pours black brown, khaki colored head. Aroma is pine, anise, chocolate, molasses, coffee. The aroma is almost like an imperial stout. Flavor is smoky, creamy bitter chocolate, meat, pine, anise. The aroma of this beer is strong but the flavor is quite smooth and mellow in comparison. In my opinion, this is a nice example of a decent porter. MarkBarnes (270), Waterville, New York, USA

Full-bodied, full-flavored, with an unusually-healthy dose of hops. Not too sweet. Coffee & chocolate (dark) notes, as advertised. A delicious porter. harrisoni (6947), Ashford, Kent, England

It’s hoppier than the average porter, good dark bitter choc, espresso coffee, a bit like the Laurelwood Tree Hugger Porter, but more juicy in the mouth, less wide. It’s good. A hoppy choccy porter.
