Inviting smell of dark, sweet fruits with peaty undertones. The flavour profile stands out as a fine mix of tart fruits and slightly roasted, dark malts with hints of both chocolate and caramel. Medium bodied and fine drinkability. One-third pint, gravicask at GBBF, 04.08.2009). Duhast500 (176), , Massachusetts, USA

The smell is of roasted malt and dark chocolate.
The taste is also of roasted malts with a coffee flavor that is a bit of an espresso flavor. Slight dark chocolate, and dark fruit feel as well.
This beer is pretty light but very flavorful. The feel is a bit of a heavy/medium but is pretty drinkable and goes down well.

Complex, smoky aroma with notes of oak, pumpernickel, chocolate, cherry, vanilla and coffee. Taste brings smokiness with fruit notes in the front, developing into a dark chocolate finish in the back with hop bitterness and saltiness. Light on carbonation with medium body. Provides a quality beer drinking experience. thenumber1g (68), Cary, North Carolina, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2009 Got this in a trade. Relatively creamy, and the flavor is a bit of sweet with robust (hah!) coffee and chocolate flavors. The flavors are almost like they were trying too hard... not very subtle. Opaque brown color, small steady stan head. Toasted malty and red currant aroma. Flavor has roasted malts, red currant and some licorice. Red currant is odd here.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2009 This poured a dar dark brown color with a light tan head. Aroma was very roasted, some hints of chocolate as well. Flavor was really balanced roastedness and silky chocolate, not so much robust like the beer says, but a pretty good balanced porter. ansermadide (512), Kyle, Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 7, 2009 12oz bottle thanks to WT, consumed on August 7, 2009. Pours an incredibly dark brown color, almost like a thick wood stain, with a gorgeous brown head. The head leaves behind a sticky, yet patchy lacing. Aroma is very roasted, and the flavor is of strong roast, yet light and easy on the palate. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Coffee and chocolate are most noticed in the finish... a great, great beer.
