Noe is hoppier than expected, citrusy, over a deep medium chocolate and coffee. Full, thick body, satiny smooth. Bitter coffee and semisweet chocolate flavors. Medium bitter chocolate finish. Excellent! spkldhenlvr24 (466), Newburgh/Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2006 Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a ruby tint. Thin dark tan head with some decent lacing. Nice roasted malts, coffee, and dark chocolate. A bitter, vinegary first sip with a sweet mocha finish. No carbanation, which is how a porter should be sometimes. Very smooth, above average, but almost cookie cutter porter. I enjoyed a sixer of this and was very pleased. Naven (876), Poway, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2006 12 oz bottle. From Northerntimber, I believe. Pours a thick chocolate color. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Taste is strong on the coffee, which i like, but I almost found that everything was lost on the overpowering coffee flavor. The palate was nice and it ends on a nice hoppy note. Not bad. swoopjones (1920), Buffalo, New York, USA

Very deep dark brown color with nice tan head. Seems to be much more complex than most. Great beer JJClark (546), Roscoe, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2006 Bottle. Pours a very dark brown almost black color with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and hops. This is closer to a stout than most other porters. Taste is complex and nicely balanced. Starts off with a bit of semi sweet flavor but finishes with a dry hoppy taste. mansquito (839), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Almost black color with a thick brown shapable head. Very mild armoa, barely even noticable. Huge taste with a lot of hops and some elements of coffee and chocolate no doubt like most any other porter. But there is more. Leaves aftertaste just like the one left by dark chocolate. Leaves the palate tingling with flavor. Really good stuff over all. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Pours very dark brown with a dark crimson hue and a good sized thick brown head. The aroma has an emphasis on chocolate that has characteristics of both milk and bitter chocolates. There is also lots of dark roasted malts - very heavily roasted, but just this side of char. Some vanilla traits are noticable as well. Medium / thick body that is smooth and rich while at the same time has lots of carbonation. Starts off with smooth roasted chocolate that is quite lush. There is rich roasted grainy malt. This beer balances things well that generally don’t go together (grainy vs. rich and smooth vs. high carbonation). The finish has the roast of the taste, but addes a healthy does of spicy hops. Excellent porter.
