Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size diminishing light-brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, lightly roasted malt and that’s pretty much it -- simple but pleasant. Flavour of coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and a roasty slighty bitter finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Nothing outstanding but still a pretty good, solid Porter. Rum raisin aroma with cocoa and coffeebeans. Robust smell. A bit of liquorice. Dark breadsyrup. Flavour brings dry coffee bitterness and cocoa. Dry with a rather small body. A bit roasted. Notes of minerals in the lack of body. HopsOrDie (687), New Lenox, Illinois, USA

Lots of roasted malt in the flavor. Some bitterness from the hops in the backend but not much flavor from them. A solid porter. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 3, 2006 Enters the glass a viscous inky jet black. Produces a one inch thick and dense mocha colored head which sustains itself nicely throughout. Rich assertive aromas of dark semi-sweet chocolate, french roast coffee, roasted malts, fresh vanilla bean and faint charcoal. Mouthfeel is moderately full and creamy. Just the right level of carbonation. Fantastic flavors of dark chocolate, espresso, charred wood, anise, and vanilla cream are noted. Some mildly bitter hop contribution in the finish to balance it all out. A hearty, well done Porter. jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA

Nose of roasty, burnt malt, bittersweet mocha, graham cracker, subtle hops. Same flavor with the hops stepping it up in the finish. Medium/full, balanced palate. Solid porter.
