| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2006 Rich mahogany under a thick light brown head with good lacing. Lots of coffee and chocolate on the nose. Very nice balance of roasted malt, caramel, coffee and bittersweet chocolate with a pleasant and aggressive - for a porter - hop presence. Moderately creamy mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation and a flavorful, crisp finish. This porter reminded me of Avery’s New World Porter but with a somewhat more restrained hop profile. Nice brew. gnoff (3570), Göteborg, Sweden

Very dark brown color, beige-brown head. Chocolate sweet and raissin scent. Dry mouthfeel with initial "too strong instant coffee" taste. Sweet turning to dark chocolate aftertaste. A bit thin body. rickgordon (3297), Göteborg, Sweden

Almost black colour. Brown head. A sharp licorice aroma is tucked in a tone of dark chocolate. Very robust. Thin-ish mouthfeel. Initially there is instant coffee in flavour, then all leads to a yummy dry cocoa ending. Not all complex but very tasty. bu11zeye (5470), Frisco, Texas, USA

Excellent smell of malt, caramel and chocolate. Nice smooth finish and a wonderful beer to drink, even when it’s not cool outside.
