Pint on tap at he Flying Saucer, Raleigh, NC. Chocolate malty smell, taste was rich, smooth, creamy, milky. The body had enough backbone to warrant it’s namesake. Quality Porter here.

On tap at Redbones, into shaker. Dark opaque black/brown with dark coffee head that started at about a 1/4 inch and faded to a ring within a minute. Roasted flavor upfront, dry over the palate. Smooth, slightly creamy/oily mouthfeel. Good lacing. Yum.

Fantastic porter. Packed with delicious roasty flavor. This is right up there with Founders porter, which I just had for the first time not long ago. Probably the 2 best robust porters I’ve had.

Bottle. Pours deep brown with a small cappuccino coloured head. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and fruity hops. Malty and rich flavour with notes of coffee, chocolate, caramel and bitter hops at the end. Super balanced and very well made.

Delicious and strong porter. Coffee hints and thick boozy aftertaste make this a winner. Smuttynose showing they can make big beers and regular beers with astounding consistency and quality.

Blind tasting - Poured red-brown. Smelled of lactose and smooth dark malt. Yum...I want to drink this beer. The taste is great--dark roast and bitter coffee with a nice chocolate note. It’s a creamy one, too--smooth and medium-full bodied. Complex but drinkable, and my favorite of the 13 porters I tried.
