May 9, 2009 On draft at Blind Tiger. Pours very dark brown with minimal head. Aroma is roast, toasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and some spice. Flavor has grilled/smoked notes with rich malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Medium body. Good porter that I would have again.

May 5, 2009 opaque, good head, lacing. strong espresso, smoke, char aroma. large body considering the relaively modest ABV. a sweet start and a dark chocolate dry late finish. some salt on the sides suggest a pretzel pairing. imperial taste without the high alcohol.

May 3, 2009 really nice porter. a step up from a lot of regular ones. falls in the middle of the pack. would benefit from food. porters, for me, unless double or oak aged just miss something.

May 2, 2009 12oz bottle, Variety Sampler Mixed 12pk. (GOLD @ 2008 GABF), Very dark brown/black pour. Thick creamy tan head. Heavenly aroma. Big semi-sweet chocolate. Lots of roasted grain. Deep roast. Flavor is a rich, thick malt. Sweet dark chocolate. Nice roasted character. Slight nuttiness. lots of coffee bean character. Then follows the bold hop. Nice woody pine comes out of no where. Very well rounded. A bit on the heavy side (for a porter), still extremely sessionable. I dream of a pub that has only one tap with only this Porter available. May 1, 2009 Dark pour with a small, tan head. Not very smooth. The beer has a strong flavor, that of ground coffee beans and smoked varmit.

Apr 22, 2009 Pours very dark with attractive half inch tall mocha head. The aroma is roasty with burnt edges and notes of earthiness and faint molasses. The taste begins pretty smooth with notes of highly roasted malts and hints of molasses easing their way into the picture. Toward midway burnt malts surface along with a touch of chocolate and a certain dark roasted coffee bean flavor that take it to the finish. Coffee, burnt malts and mild earthiness seem to hang around into the after taste.

Apr 21, 2009 Pours very dark brown with a small tanish head. Nose of chocolate, coffee and smoke. Flavor is the same with a very nice hop presence that dry through the finish. Very awesome porter.

Apr 20, 2009 Updated: May 31, 2009pours dark with an off white head that lasted half a beer smell is of coffee and malt. taste is coffee start maybe hints of chocolate finishing into a roasted taste in my mouth not much of an after taste most of the taste comes at the beginning. smells fantastic taste is alright.
