Ungstrup (11385), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 23, 2004 A black beer with a chocolate brown head. The aroma is of chocolate and coffee. While the flavor is sour with notes of coffee leading up to a dry end. But the body is unfortunately thin. Thanks Mike for trading this one with Jeppe. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 15, 2002 Very black - nearly intransparent. Nicely softly malty, and full bodied. Very roasty, salty with notes of dark chocolate. Well balanced with a bitter finish. This is an outstanding porter! Papsoe (10517), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 13, 2008 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Vintage 2004. Pours opaque black with a small, light brown head. Vinous, delicios aroma with dried fruits and some burned malt. Medium body with hard roasted malt notes, a little metal and ashes but also pleasant rounded notes of dried fruit. Dry finish with a discreet malt bitterness. 120308 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 11, 2002 Blackened cherrywood colour with a finger of foam; though hampered by a cold I’ve got some good quality roast grains in the aroma, some black rye bread, wood, vanilla and a little bit of cocoa. Palate-wise this is smooth, sweet, and filling - the body is rich enough to carry through. Sweet malts, demerara, and chocolate chip cookie dough lead the way, but the beer turns drier, roastier, and hoppier in the finish. I love the way the two elements are balanced off of each other. Very enjoyable - a winter beer that you can drink in quantity. Thanks to Jeffrey at Esprit for calling in the favours to bring this to Toronto. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 5, 2005 Bottled. Black colour with a beige head.
Extremely complex aroma of coffee, grass, hops and chocolate.
Flavour of chocolate, coffee and grass.
Thanks Ivan for sharing.
