Cask at GBBF 2009, 4th Aug 09. Pure black with some tan bubbles . Full, malty body with dark chocolate and burnt caramel. The aroma hints at the delights awaiting you within the glass. Smooth, drinkable palate but really you should take your time! Excellent dryness once the dark fruit and cocoa flavours pass. A great example of a porter.

Pours dark brown color with light brown head. Roasty aroma with a good amount of coffee and chocolate. Flavors of burnt malts and bittersweet chocolate with a slightly ashy finish. Medium to full body with mild carbonation.

On tap at Tyler’s. Poured dark amber/brown with a thick head that released a relatively lacking aroma compared to the taste. There is a huge malted hop taste and a smooth dry finish of chocolate/mocha malts. Nice session beer.

Pours a very dark black. Tan head a little foamy. Head dissipates quickly with no lacing. Nose is lacking a bit. A roasted character I guess. A little malt. Flavor strong of roasted malts. Nutty. Bitter coffee finish. A little thin on the palate. Good carbonation levels. Slightly fizzy. Overall, pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but very drinkable. More nose would improve this beer greatly.

12oz bottle from total wine in greenville. pours a very dark brown, damn near black, with a nice half-inch, dark, cocoa-powder brown head and solid lacing. aroma is great with big roasted malts, dark chocolate, nutty toffee, buttered popcorn, smoke, and hints of roast coffee. flavor is excellent with big, dark, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and sweet, dark fruits up front backed by sweet toffee, roasted nuts, hints of smoked wood, and a touch of bitter, earthy/leafy hops. palate is medium bodied and lightly carbonated with a long lasting burnt coffee and roasted, nutty malt finish. overall, a wonderful porter.
