Flavor was super smokey, almost Aecht Schlenkerla smokey, with lots of sweet brown sugar. It was good, but not great. Maybe a tad too sweet and sugary. puzzl (2635), New York, New York, USA

Like paper the aroma,
Yet so rich, the malt flavor,
Peat, smoke, oh so good. Prostman (1077), Pennsylvania, USA

It poured a thick head but halfway through there wasn’t much left. Malty aroma, with a stronger malt, tangy flavor with some spices and brown sugar. Was a little harsh. Not terrible but I probably won’t get it again. beerbill (1963), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 6, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with some murky reddish brown highlights when held against a light. Moderate tan colored head which lasted until about mid-glass and left sheets of lace after each sip. Pleasant aroma of malt, brown sugar and some peat. The flavor is very nice with some good earthy peat, gentle smoke, brown sugar and malt. As the beer warmed, a bit of the alcohol emerges. Medium bodied. This is a damned tasty scotch ale! mcox90 (646), Wilton, USA

Poured a mostly clear dark brown with lots of lighter ruby easily coming through. The head was almost two-fingers tall and struggled to maintain. Minimal spots of lacing. The aroma was malt and sweet candied sugar. Pretty straightforward Scotch ale without much smoked peat to reign it in. Same is true of the flavor. Nice malty sweetness and there is a hint of smoke on the backside, but overall it’s more sweet than smoke. The mouthfeel was nice enough. Thanks again!
