Commercial Description:
Copper-colored ale is medium-bodied and highly hopped. Its flavor is delightfully complex: tangy fruit at the start, with an assertive hop crispness and a long malty palate that one well-known beer writer has compared to the flavor of freshly-baked bread.

Poured a clear copper color with nice carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. There was a thin tan head that left light amount of lacing. A nice citrus aroma. There is a nice light crisp citrus flavor initially with a touch of sweetness. The flavor rolls into a mild bitteness that builds into the finish. A good combination of the citrus and sweetness initially followed by the hops.

Pretty decent. Not about to run off and get more of this though. Pours a thin head, clear and dark amber color. Toasty flavor, and long finish. Definitely not bad.

Draught sample at the Portsmouth restaurant. English pale ales are not my favourite style but this seemed about average across the board. Not something I would search out but not bad.

12oz - Solidly constructed ale. has the requisite citrus nose, gold color and dry bitter finish. As with many others, it fails to distinguish itself in a progressively more crowded field of Pale Ales.

Enjoyable pale ale that doesnt really at all taste like the english ale in the label. I tasted a very clean and crisp american pale ale with not too much else going on although that is not such a bad thing.

sampler @ portsmouth brewery - clear, dark copper with thin head; lots of lacing going down form the creamy body; on the bitter sides of pale ales, but pretty nice; plenty of maltiness, but could use a little more body

12oz bottle. Came in sampler pack from Smuttynose. Pours reddish copper with thick beige head. Aroma malty, floral hops, citrus and some spices. Flavor is of pine and citrus hops, caramel malts and spices. Full mouthfeel and finish bitter yet has the malts to balance it out a little. Not bad and my first of this style.
