Jun 1, 2008 Another nice one from Smuttynose. Pleasent citrusy character, with a bright floral taste and grapefruit aroma. It pours a clear copper colour with a plentiful head, and a nice lacing. Hops are well integrated, not too overpowering, but well balanced and firm for an APA.

May 31, 2008 Pours a dark shade of orange, with some hints of amber in it-quite nice to look at actually. Off-white small finger head that turned into some nice lacing.
Yeasty and hoppy notes dominate the aroma, some of an earthly smell too which I enjoy.
Taste was spot on for what I was hoping for in a pale ale. A nice balance of maltiness and hops with some earthy tones.
Goes down relatively smooth, good balance and not too strong on the ABV either. Carbonation is minor but pleasant. I could drink a couple more of these in a session.
This is my favorite style of ale and it definitely lived up to what I was expecting.

May 28, 2008 Clear amber pour, with white crown that flees quickly. Not much nose, perhaps a bit of flour and yeast. Taste is pretty dry, and earthier than you’d expect from a pale. Surprising hop presence, though not overbearing bitterness. Pretty good overall.

May 26, 2008 Quite watery and uneventful. The hops dominate the beer, leaving it quite one-sided in both aroma and flavor. The aroma has more malt character with some chocolate and maybe dark fruit. Body is orange with small white head.

May 26, 2008 Draft at the Portsmouth Brewery - Poured a reddish amber in color with a small white head. Aroma was medium of hops and a slight amount of sweet malts. Flavor was much the same. Medium hop finish. A good session beer... enjoyable...

May 26, 2008 On tap at Out of the Fire in Easton, MD. I enjoyed this brew, my first time having the Shoals Pale Ale; I very much enjoy their IPA. Pours rich golden color, medium head. Aromas of citrus and pine; dry hop flavor. Good overall brew and I will definitely have this again.

May 2, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz bottle with an expiration date of August 2008. Pours a ruby-copper with an off-white head that stays atop the glass for the session. A little hoppy on the nose. The hops are in the flavor too but there are subtle malts too. Not quite as bold as an IPA but it has some of those characteristics.
