Commercial Description:
Copper-colored ale is medium-bodied and highly hopped. Its flavor is delightfully complex: tangy fruit at the start, with an assertive hop crispness and a long malty palate that one well-known beer writer has compared to the flavor of freshly-baked bread.

12oz thanks beastiefan2k - Aroma is perfume hops followed by crystal and caramel malts. Not a fan of perfume beers. Pours cloudy brown with a medium head and good lacing. Flavor is caramel and malty with an earthy hop finish. Palate is sticky. Ok, but may be a little past prime.

Bottle. Ice tea color with light hop aroma along with tea scent. Tea again evident in the flvaor. Mild hop presence. Easy drinking but nothing real special

Copying from my tasting notes. Bottle. Dark amber pour, with a dry hoppy aroma. Hop flavor through out, dry and tasty.

May 2006 - The great beer that wasn’t. Beer poured with nice little head and lacing, beautiful dark amber color. Very little aroma. The flavor, as it hit my tongue, I thought was going to be really, really good. The sweetness and the maltiness never really developed. . .leaving me wanting more of both. The hops were indistinguishable under the bitter finish. Very little taste from the hops (again leaving me wanting more), just a bitter finish. It’s not a bad beer, but it disappointed me a little because I like the style and heard good things about this one. Oh well.

12 oz. bottle - Poured a really nice copper color with medium head and great lacing. Aroma is fruity and also has a light floral hop scent. Initial taste is slightly sweet and metallic on the tongue. leaves you with a dry finish. Overall a slightly above average EPA.

pours a hazy ruby copper with an off-white head. aroma is tangy/tart hop, some floral notes, and a hint of apricot. taste is some hops, some foral notes, some dough. pretty much tastes like it smells. taste is a bit on the watery side, but has a nice overall light bitterness to it. mid-bodied with a crisp finish. sudsy mouthfeel. decent as a session-type refresher. not the best APA i’ve ever had, it’s a bit too gentle/watery.

This beer could have gone either way. It wasn’t bad, but neither was it good. I guess for me it really suffers the "plain jane" fate because while there were no flaws, it just didn’t impress me enough to consider this beer anything more than "just another beer". The beer pours out a nice copper/amber color, solidly built head and an aroma of light flowers and some citrus zing. The problem I had was...where’s the flavors? I mean, with the aroma it was telling me that I might get a decent APA here, but it just didn’t deliver no matter how much it warmed up. Sure there was some faint, soft caramel malts and some lifeless citrus hop bitterness but it was on life support. A ho-hum beer for sure. Next!
