Commercial Description:
Copper-colored ale is medium-bodied and highly hopped. Its flavor is delightfully complex: tangy fruit at the start, with an assertive hop crispness and a long malty palate that one well-known beer writer has compared to the flavor of freshly-baked bread.

From the Beer of the Month Club. 12 oz. Bottle. Pour is dark copper with a thick fluffy light tan head and sticky lacing. Fruit, caramel malt, and bread. Same for the flavor with a good hop bitterness in the finish. Refreshing. Well made brew!

Pours amber with quarter inch beige head. Aroma is strong with hops. Taste is malt in the front with medium sour, bold hops all the way through the end. Smooth drink and hops are not overpowering. Good pale ale.

In the bottle from the July 2006 Beer-o-the Month Club. Thanks to pman. This is just a beautiful beer. Amber with a pillowy beige head of extreme retention. Has a pine and citrus aroma of hops. Medium body and bitterness. Has a strong tart flavor at first, but a fine and delicate berry flavor then emerges. Finishes with a quick bitterness. This has the thickest head that I’ve ever seen on a pale ale. It leaves a floating discoid of foam that is nearly solid in texture.

Small white head, amber color. Grapefruit citrus aroma and flavor. Very hoppy but the aftertaste is a bit metallic & bitter. Nice ale, above average but just barely.

this was a very good english pale ale. Dark copper body with a nice fluffy off white/tan head that sticks to the glass. full flavor and aa nice hop bite - finishes very dry and making you want another one. Smuttynose is a brewery sneaking up on Dogfish head

Pour of ambered golden. Aroma of buttery sweet hop candies and aged tannins. Rich strong golden malt beams through with plums and lemon sugars. Tangy butter fire of grapefruit and pine resins. The finish is reticent with hop sugars, almonds and grapefruit skin resins. I don’t feel that it really follows the style, but it’s damn decent.
