Slight barnyard above a toasted cereal, leafy hop, and light sweet caramel. Flavours are clean and earthy. Very soft carbonation. Woody and medicinal bitters. Faint tart berries at the end. Good. madsberg (4964), Søborg, Denmark

This won best American cask ale at GBBF again - at the least the second time in three years, but for me it was very disappointing in its plainness. Amber coloured with a pleasant hop aroma but a bit of a compost heap rotting smell. The taste had some nice hop notes and a little caramel. All very unspectacular sadly. harrisoni (6798), Ashford, Kent, England

Dark amber, typical American IPA hop nose, sweetish fruit but a really good long lasting satisfying hop finish ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 4, 2005 Pours a brownish orange body, slightly hazy. Aroma is a little bit fruity and spicy, but also slightly hoppy. That doesn’t really describe it very well though. Earthy or doughy might be better. Finishes fairly sweet with some hop bitterness that lingers. Flavor is much better than the relatively weak aroma. I can’t believe this is one of the best pale ales out there. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
