Commercial Description:
Copper-colored ale is medium-bodied and highly hopped. Its flavor is delightfully complex: tangy fruit at the start, with an assertive hop crispness and a long malty palate that one well-known beer writer has compared to the flavor of freshly-baked bread.

Cask@GBBF 2005. Brown beer with a malty and caramel aroma and a slightly nutty and caramel flavour with a dry finish. Overall a reasonable beer.

Pours deep red/gold with a short tan head. Slight barnyard above a toasted cereal, leafy hop, and light sweet caramel. Flavours are clean and earthy. Very soft carbonation. Woody and medicinal bitters. Faint tart berries at the end. Good.

Draught @ GBBF 2005: Golden coloured. Hazy. Light brown head. Is a bit hoppy in the nose. Some vague sweetness. Flavour is herbal, light floral and has some chocolate notes. Fruity bitter in the end with a light nutty touch. A bit ordinary

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense GBBF 2005. This won best American cask ale at GBBF again - at the least the second time in three years, but for me it was very disappointing in its plainness. Amber coloured with a pleasant hop aroma but a bit of a compost heap rotting smell. The taste had some nice hop notes and a little caramel. All very unspectacular sadly.

Cask at GBBF Dark amber, typical American IPA hop nose, sweetish fruit but a really good long lasting satisfying hop finish

Pours a brownish orange body, slightly hazy. Aroma is a little bit fruity and spicy, but also slightly hoppy. That doesn’t really describe it very well though. Earthy or doughy might be better. Finishes fairly sweet with some hop bitterness that lingers. Flavor is much better than the relatively weak aroma. I can’t believe this is one of the best pale ales out there.

Hazy brown body with off whiye head when poured from my 12oz. bottle. The nose was balanced malts and hops, with yeast. Spices come out in the taste. Well done.
