Commercial Description:
Copper-colored ale is medium-bodied and highly hopped. Its flavor is delightfully complex: tangy fruit at the start, with an assertive hop crispness and a long malty palate that one well-known beer writer has compared to the flavor of freshly-baked bread.

The aroma is hoppy, yeasty, and malty as well as nutty, earthy and toasted. It has an ESB-ish quality. The appearance is amber with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a well balanced toast, caramel, and grass finish. The palate is smooth. Overall a really nice beer.

The aroma is an excellent blend of malt and hop. The hop is floral and inviting. The malt is sweet and "round". Very inviting! Coudy, dark copper color with a slightly yellow-white head that has excellent retention and lace. Darker malt (crystal) in flavor is the initial taste. This is followed by a strong bitterness that intensifies after the swallow. The beer is thick; coats the palate. I’m only a tad bit let down after the aroma, but that may be because it held awesome promise. This is a very good, delicious pale ale. I’d love to smell the brewery.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass for drinking. The beer had an amber-copper color with a smaller off-white head that has short retention and cling. It had a rich, crisp citrus hop aroma with some floral notes and a bit of grain. The beer had a heavily bitter-sour hop flavor with some grain and citrus flavors. Its body was slightly thin with a lot of fizz and life, and it was a very dry beer. A quality beer, but a bit too dry and intense in bitterness.

Not too bad, has a nice sharp bitterness. Very crisp hops, easy to drink, what I like in a Pale Ale. Hops not too strong, balanced well with malt.

Pours a nice amber color, with a very nice thick, creamy head and a ton of lacing. Aroma of malt, spice, bread and little citrus - taste was more malty and nutty than the citrus I expected. The citrus definitely isn’t as prominent in this English Pale Ale and it typically is in the American Pale Ale - this is a great beer that I could have drank all night... I forgot how much I like this one

beautiful thick head that laces incredibly (i wasn’t expecting that), deep cloudy amber-red, nose is wonderfully malty-sour! not sweet (a plus for me)...smells like a world class lager (!)...probably not fair that this is following a tasting of SN Torpedo...but you know, this stands its proud ground as an american British (traditional?) Pale...hops actually snap at the palate very nicely...again THANKFULLY not really sweet at all. i don’t know, it’s like a hopped up lager. very drinkable and i am impressed. for what it IS (it isn’t a hophead’s wet, bitter dream), it scores high on all points. it has backbone, spice, creaminess, beautiful to look at...smell isn’t hiding anything. simply well-balanced and unique enough to be a fun session brew. would go well with chowders and anything cajun/creole. glad my first Smuttynose isn’t a disappointment in the least!

Pours clear copper with off white head. Aromas of bread and floral hops. Bready malt and English malt flavors. Medium body with average carbonation.
