aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Jun 10, 2009 The smoke is balanced with the malt to make a pretty tasty rauchbier. Makes for a perfect compliment to the pub’s pulled pork with chipotle bbq sauce. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Jun 1, 2009 Tap at the brewpub, a special smoked lager. The aroma has that typical American smoked beer smokiness — I’m no homebrewer so I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s quite clear that the majority of American smoked beers are sourcing the same (kind of) crummy smoked malt from somewhere. Hammy and dry, without that robust campfire or bacon tendency you find in the Schlenkerlas and Alaskan Smoked Porters. The flavor was a bit vegetal, basic, a light ashy smoke in the middle with a sweet finish.
