Review from either late summer 2008 or mid spring 2009, reviewed on my parents deck and somewhat shared with my pops (who I could tell wasn’t too fond of it).
Poured out a clear and attractive copper brew, creamy light tan cap and amazing permanent lacing. The aroma has a great robust roasted malt front... tons of malts really. Early on the malts are almost pungent (it weakens), nice balanced sweetness from the malts, maybe even a faint smoke quality. Background nectarine and other citrus - these citrusy hops take away some of the bite of the large roasted character. The depth of flavour and it goes from roast to deep roast to dark earthy roast with a hint of peat. Somehow, with all this thick flavour, the malts are not really that rich - a richness that can kill a bock for me. Mild bitterness, a bit of fruit, light peppery spice, slight alcohol (perfect amount). Especially early on, the malts had such amazing depth, such a range of flavours that I was not sure if I liked it. But the incredible range and depth won me over very fast. Smooth, perfect. Short lived spice on the finish, tons of roasted malts. Veers from the standard bock recipe and that is why I like it so much. This beer is awesome.

Courtesy of Bück Dich <!-- P --> low intensity grainy aroma with some mild malt sweetness. Orange tinted golden body with a diminishing thumb thick head. Very lager looking. Fairly spicy fore is also packed with earthy malts, perfumey clove like flavors and a hint of stiffer spice int he finish. Taste delivers much more than aroma. Not a bad little bock really and handles the 7.1% abv quite nicely.

Tap at the brewery. Wet veggies, biscuit and cherry cordial aroma. Olivey, chocolate chip cookie flavor, nicely complex, with lots of rich munich character. Not a bad effort.

Bottle: Orange in color, fairly clear, light carbonation, moderate foamy white head, spotty lacing.   Kilned malt aroma, grains, slight whole wheat breadiness.   Semi-sweet malt character, fairly light, clean, but not as big or heavy as other examples.   Simple, but very quaffable.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finish is fairly crisp, only very lightly chewy.   Would be nice to see this one be a bit bigger with more robust nose, but as it is its a easy drinking lighter Bock.   Thanks for the bottle Jordan!

12oz bottle via trade with Bück Dich - Thanks Jordan! - Pours amber/golden with a short white creamy head that fades to a film quickly. Aromas of caramel, some light spice, and some yeast, and some earthy notes. Flavor is pretty grainy with some caramel coming through as well and just a touch of the alcohol. A little spice there too. Overall a lot of yeasty flavor though. Medium bodied and not much carbonation. No sign of the 7.1% either. Not bad..
