Commercial Description:
Kölsch is a pale, golden hued, top-fermented beer originally from the city of Köln, Germany. Brewed with 100% German Pilsner malt and hopped with Tettnanger hops. While most German beers are lagers, Kölsch is one of the few German ales. This beer is light and quenching, our most lightly hopped offering. Our head brewer imported this recipe on a visit to Köln to see our German penpal, brewer Guido Waldecker. Our Kölsch is brewed to an original gravity of 12.0 and fermented down to 2.0 for an alcohol content of 5.0% by volume.

On tap at the brewpub in Jackson, WY. Pours a clear gold body with a medium white head. The aroma is full of fruity banana notes. The taste was also full of banana, but also a bready malt, and a nice zesty mouthfeel. Nice.

Tap @ SR Brew Pub. Pours a light golden blonde with a nice, subtle haziness and a large white head. Aroma is very mild with a small amount of florals and sweet fruitiness. Tastes of light grassey hops and again a small fruity twinge. Some maltiness drowns out the hops and really gets mellow in the tail.

Draft @ Front Door, Boise, ID: Pours a pale yellow color with a nice white head. The nose is lightly citrusy with a brief malty note that fades before showing any hop notes. The flavor is reasonably malty with a light biscuity character and a light hop bitterness in the tail. A beer that gets thinner every drink you take. Ok.

Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Jackson, Wyoming. Pours a golden pale blonde brew with a thick and lumpy white head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet flowery hops, light bready malt and a touch of orange citrus zest. Taste is lightly carbonated, light bodied with a bready-like malt flavor. Palate has a light bitterness with a bready flavor aftertaste and then a clean and crisp finish.

Bright golden pour. Foamy white head. Aromas of doughy malts and some spicey/earthy hops. Tasty beer. Malty body and light noble hop flavors mix with soft carbonation. Finishes spicey and dry. Nice and easy to drink without being "blah". My friends and I drank a few pitchers of this when at the Jackson pub for my birthday in July.
