Commercial Description:
Crazy Ivan is making his return to the Snipes Mountain line of ales this fall. Crazy Ivan's was one of the original beers produced at Snipes and our brewer decided to go a little retro and feature this beer on a limited basis. A single 14-barrel batch was brewed in June and been aging ever since, to ensure a full flavored yet well-balanced stout. Approximately 9.5 % alcohol by weight.

Sampled at 2007 Portland International Brewfest--Deep dark black body wtih a small creamy tan top. Roasty and nutty with a lot of chocolate and coffee/toffee notes. Body was a little thin but finish was great with lots of hops and malts lingering on the palate. Not too bad.

Bottle (few were created for the trip to GABF) pours dark brown, almost black, full tannish frothy head that quickly settles, with attractive lacing.   Roasted malts and graham crackers on the nose.   Sweet up front, roasted malts, and a bit of coffee bean on the tongue.   As it warms the alcohol is a bit more apparent.   Body and mouthfeel are a bit below average.   Finishes with a clean hop bite and more of the roasted malts.   Would have been better had it been a bit thicker.
