| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 10, 2009 22 oz bottle, via 5000. Pours a clear reddish copper body with a one inch fizzy light beige head that fell to a thin covering. The nose is dominated by heavy caramel malt with a moderate piney and resiny hoppiness. Quite a hoppy beast, this is certainly an American Barley Wine. Moderate piney and resiny hoppiness with a fairly restrained bitterness level. Finishes with a hefty dose of burnt caramel and some lingering resiny hops. Pretty well hidden alcohol for being 9.2% though. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a bit of an almost course graininess to it, rather abrupt finish. Pleasant soft fine fizzy carbonation. Overall this was decent, very hoppy for the style, if it would have had a bit more crystal malt in the flavor it would almost qualify as a DIPA. Finished a bottle easy enough, so I can’t complain too much. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA

Sharp aroma, of pine hops, grass, wood, and hints of sweeter malt and caramel. Taste is quite sharp and bitter, lots of pine hops, with hints of grass, citrus, and malt. Lingering bitterness. Tasty. Nose is sweet and clearly hopped up. Taste is sweet and hoppy, much more like a DIPA to me than a Barleywine, definetly cuts along that mid line. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2009 Pours deep murky copper brown with thin tan head. The aroma is raisins, prunes, a bit of pine hops and some molasses. Smells nice. The taste has more hops than the nose hinted at. It seems to start with raisins, prunes and super ripe cherries. Quickly solid pine hops and resin goodness surface and take hold of the flavor. It gets a bit crystal malt like toward the finish. Enjoyable product. sebletitje (1997), Tampa, Florida, USA
