jah noth (937), Rochester, New York, USA Nov 4, 2005 Gracious…what are you folks drinking? Pours a light black in color with a big and fluffy, off-white head. HUGE aroma of bittersweet chocolate and charred malts. Dusty mouthfeel, nicely hopped, with a rich sense of chocolate and burnt malts. Really nice. zach8270 (1404), Henrietta, New York, USA Feb 26, 2006 (bottle - 22 oz) To begin with, a big thank you to jah noth for splitting this bottle with me. Black pour with a big mound of tan foam. Very rich aroma of burnt and roasted malts mixed with some chocolate and some hops. Smooth chocolate flavor with a lot of roasted malt hints and a nice hop balance to polish off the flavor. Very creamy. Thanks for sharing this one Dan. TAR (1998), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Jun 8, 2002 Malted milk balls, roastiness, cardboard, underlying coffee, caramel, perfumey hops, and cocoa in this above average Porter aroma. Overall, very clean. Heavy carbonation is rather aggressive, before rich chocolate, acidity, oxidation, licorice, herbs, and fruit appear. An aftertaste of charred molasses?, which is nice, adds another tasty dimension to this fine robust porter. The foam is creamy and persistent but nothing too impressive. The finish is rather dry with bitter chocolate (turns salty at room temp). Gets much more delicious at room temp. This is a fresh porter, but I wouldn’t purchase again. It is, however, very drinkable. after4ever (1696), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 17, 2006 Bomber. Pours just about jet black (even in a skinny glass) with a fairly well unmanageably large tannish/pumpkin head. Not much lace, but gorgeous to look at. Big licorice and toast on the nose. Creamy attack, though it’s a medium body with light carb. Delicious chocolate and toffee mid-palate, with a little roast and hop bitterness in the finish. Outstanding example of a porter. A deep dark brown color. Great aroma with chcolate, and toffee and roasted malts. Great flavor and a deep richness that was awesome. This Beer Rocked.
