bridge (659), Sydney, Australia Oct 6, 2007 Clear red-brown with a medium sized off-white head sitting atop. Strong aroma of stewed stone fruits. Some nice nuttiness, especially on tasting to go with a light roasted malt. Flavour is a little on the sweet side, lingering a while before some bitterness shows its head and cuts through. Not bad, but nothing exceptional.
gam (576), brisbane, Australia Oct 5, 2008 Thin head back to some lace cover, good carbonation copper red colour.Aroma caramel biscuit, mild citrus, malt, toffee.Flavour citrus, maltiness, coffeebeans, vanilla, caramel,a rich bitterness in these flavours, you think the bitter takes over but the malt is just as strong.Good tastes roasted or toasted a near grittyness.Finish bitter sweet good body, nice effort. durhambeer (527), Durham, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle brought back from Australia thanks to my good friend Kat. Deep rich copper pour with light off-white head. Big bubbles that disappear pretty quickly. Decent lacing, though. Biscuity malt is dominant as well as some toffee, and this doesn’t have some of the fruit/seed/creamy flavors sometimes found in ambers. A little nutty, definitely a little coppery (think pennies). Hints of smoke and peat on the back of the palate that increase as it warms a bit. Nothing amazing, but pretty damn good. Lunkie (1006), Glen Iris, Australia Jun 17, 2008 Spicy sweet malt hop aroma. Clear dark red colour with good head and lacing. Spicy malt flavour with a hint of smokeyness. Smooth palate. voota (754), Melbourne, Australia Apr 2, 2008 This stuff was surprisingly ok... Pours more brown than red with a small head. Lots of rich toffee runs the aroma, a touch of earthy hops and chestnuts. Medium body, flavour shows a lot of specialty malts, toffee and some nutty dryness work pretty well. Sweet , malty finish. You could do much worse. MBison (403), Southern Highlands, Australia Feb 14, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Poured a amber with a off-white, creamy small head which was average lasting. Aroma was of candy sugar, berries, spices, caramel malts and some butterscotch in the back. Flavor was of sweet malts with no bitterness present with some mixed berries, toffee (sweet) and a very mild spiciness. Light bodied with soft carbonation, watery texture, creamy mouthfeel and a short finish.
