The aroma is a earthy caramel mix, very interesting. The flavor is similarly dominated by a sweet caramel flavor with loads of earthiness. Toasted and sweet flavors. Also, a great mouthfeel. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jul 14, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Nice copperish amber pour. No retention. A bit of roast and burnt cocoa blends with mainly malt, malt, malt on the nose. Flavor is pretty much nil of anything...watery and lightly LIGHTLY hopped near the end. Not too impressed with this one, but usually are not with ambers. ditmier (1110), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2008 Draught @ Bardenay - Aroma of toasted malt, flavor was similar, nice toasted grainy and malty flavour, I honestly thought this was at least on par with some of the much more popular ambers out there, I would definitely drink this again... | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2008 3/7/08 on draught at the brewpub. Aroma is highly malt dominant, with a strong roast, almost Munich character. Hops are nearly nonexistant. Appearance is clear reddish gold with a medium maintained off white head. Flavor is still malt dominant, but the roast is not as strong and gives more of a sweet/sour presentation accomapanied by low earthy bittering. Mouthfeel is medium/low bodied with a medium carb feel and tangy finish. Overall, this isn’t to style but there’s just not much to complain about; good and easy drinking.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2007 Draft: Pours a very dark amber with reddish tones, large white head, and thick lacing. Nose is faint malt, earthiness, and floral hops. The taste is more of hops than of malt; a little earthiness and some florals. Lingering finish of light bitters. Different from the mainstream ambers I’ve tried recently - in a good way.
