Mar 11, 2006 Growler. Opaque black pour, with virtually no head (probably due to growler). Light aroma of chocolate and roasty malts. Touch of the cola thing going on in flavor, with roasty chocolate malts and some bitter coffee. Lingering bitter chocolate finish.

Feb 28, 2006 Growler sample: Opaque black with an oily viscosity and a thin ring of tan head. Aroma of candied fruits, grapes and plums with a mild roastiness. Body starts with a lightly sweet, earthy, dark fruity complex flavor with lots of bittering coffee amid a thin watery palate. A decent brew, but could use some more body.

Feb 27, 2006 Very little head on this one on an opaque black body. Coffee is underneath the candied hops. Dry body. Interesting. Hops and coffee blend well in this one.

Dec 22, 2005 On Tap at brewpub: I guess I expected more of an espresso presence in this stout, but it was one that had more of a creamy coffee flavor and sweet malts. It is dark brown with no head. It was similar to the Sockeye porter in that it was thin. I prefer a stout to have more body than this. The aftertaste told me that something was missing in the purple haze -- help Jimi!

Dec 18, 2005 Pours a jet black color with a small brown head. Aromas of espresso, chocolate, and some hops. Flavor is a nice balance of the chocolate and espresso with a little hop bitterness towards the end.

Very dark black, very small tan head an only a few specs of lacing. This was not the nitro version dark chocolate and deep roasted aromas. Lots of nice very dark roasted flavors and not too much coffe. Feel was a bit thin and overall well balanced. Quite good.

Sep 10, 2004 nice nitro, creamy head/palate; pretty mild, chocolate/mocha nose; rather dull flavor for such a brew, some stange off-flavor going on, some burnt coffee, and toasty malt; bitter finish.
