Commercial Description:

Courtesy of Papsoe. Brew #23 from September 2007 and now it’s April 2008. It’s black/brown and slightly transparent with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has nice notes of coffee and licorice. The flavour has sweetness, notes of coffee, a slightly bitter but yet sweet licorice, roasted malt and caramel. It’s harmonic, and I really liked it.

Blind tasting at Papsoe. Dark reddish brown colour with a little dense head. Aroma of coffee and little roastedness. Taste of coffee, roastedness, malt and ends up very dry and with a coffee finish.

Bottle, 70cl. An unclear pour, reddish to brown in color and topped by a beige head, reveals aromas of roasted malt, some sourness, chocolate, peat and some burnt notes. The flavor is much the same, with an emphasis on the roasted malt. Full-bodied, chalky mouthfeel. A really nice beer, but there’s something strange about it though. Not in a bad way that is. Bottle. [thank you, Myrup!]
Pours a deep mahogany brown with amedium fizzy and light frothy beige head. Aroma is mild, generously roasted, some dried fruits and some chocolate. Rather nice creaminess. Flavour is greatly roasted, lots of sweet chocolate and a good dose of floral bitterness. Lightly warming vinious finish. Does not feel anywhere near as heavy as many other Impy stouts.
